Preparing the frozen world

A curved chamber of frost-edged ice glowing from within, surrounded by wind-cut snow and distant glacial ridges.

Deep
signal.

Something is stirring
beneath the silence.

Nothing
stands still.

Quartz, held in ice.
Scroll to turn it in the light.

The igloo opens into a sequence of suspended ice specimens. The first holds a formation of quartz. Scrolling turns the frost-covered block; a sweep or tap brings a small response in light and, when enabled, sound.

Follow the
frequency.

Old stone. A lower voice.
Touch the ice. Listen closely.

A stone gate and a broken stratum occupy the second ice specimen. Their worn surfaces turn slowly through the same silver light. Struck stone answers an octave below the quartz. Sound is always your choice.

Make it
resonate.

The ice falls away.
Hold the source. Let it go.

The last ice shell clears to reveal a source made of tiny frost grains above a circular display. Hold the charge control, then release to send a wave through it. Your first discharge leaves a small fragment on the display, remembered on this browser when storage is available.

A trace
of you.

A moment becomes a memory.
The signal is what we keep.

A small world, built in the open.

Deep Signal is an interactive experiment in light, matter and memory. A frozen chamber opens into five connected views: the surface, quartz, echo, the source, and the trace you leave.

Inside the experiment

The world combines a locally authored glacial landscape and curved ice chamber with Blender-modelled quartz, a stone gate and sheared strata. Rounded, chipped ice shells hold these artifacts in a suspended gallery, with fine snow textures and reflected light across their surfaces.

Scrolling opens the chamber and carries each frozen specimen across the frame. Sweeping or tapping the ice produces a small answering pulse. With sound enabled, the response is a pitched chime, panned toward your touch. Stone has its own lower voice.

At the source, hold the charge control with a pointer, touch, Space or Enter. Releasing sends a wave through the frost grains. The first discharge seats a gem fragment on the display. A small local ledger records visits and charges on this browser; if storage is unavailable, the fragment lasts for the current visit.

Motion can be paused, and every chapter can be reached directly. Phones receive a lighter version of the same world. This still edition is available with JavaScript disabled, reduced motion, data saving, or if the 3D scene cannot load.
